@motherliberty summoned brienne. ⚔️

          was it her nerves that now bore a HOLE in her system with honed teeth, or was it simply the keenness she held toward seeing such a public figure in person? she had always kept her attentions on the politics of this nation ( seeing as how they, in the LONG RUN, affected her own ), but even as the keeper of counsel for the starks, she HARDLY found herself worthy of even gaining presence to the president. regardless, she kept her gaze up front and on the woman she had been ASSIGNED to shelter              until, of course, the woman came nearer. only then did brienne move her gaze to amidala, a faint and polite smile to her LIPS ( and gods, was she young ).      ❛ it is a… a PLEASURE to meet you, ma’am. ❜

She twists herself so the other woman could see her gaping expression. But it was quick to break into a smile and a laugh. “I didn’t realize you came all this way to look for trouble.” Padmé was the trouble, though. The whispers in the villages were because of her. She removes complacency where it walks.

                                        i don’t look for it. i find it by ACCIDENT.       and most of the time she found it without wishing to, and hoped she could back from it before it found her where she stood. there was trouble everywhere, and Brienne was most always caught in the midst.       always by accident.      no person in their right mind would ever seek TROUBLE on purpose –––– it was the thieves, the murderers, the dangerous men who did.

Her head tilted at the other woman’s words. She wished it were that way, that good would always prevail. Amidala dropped the twig on her lap and it rolled off to the side opposite the small pile. “I don’t think it’s that clean,” she said, “The things we do can be seen as bad, even though we believe them to be good. So I’d say good and bad are on a more equal playing field than what we wish.”

image

                                       the woman had a good POINT, and Brienne caught herself faintly frowning and looking off again, toward some distant speck at which she wasn’t actually seeing.       it depends who you are, i suppose.      she didn’t explain herself. her views were set; those who were bad saw good as bad, and those who were good saw bad as BAD. and she wished to be one of the good. yet… there she’d learned, too.       i don’t see any trouble around here.

She turned to glance around the tree. Her eyebrows raised, but Amidala shrugged and went back to fussing with the twigs at her side. “That’s because there’s not as many people to lean on,” she said, “nor a system to wrap ourselves around.” Her nails dug at the tip of the twig in hand. “It can also breed the worst type of people for that very reason.”

image

                                           i imagine the good always OUTWEIGHS the bad.      it was the mindset she held for most things: where there was bad, there would always be good. if there were no good, there would be no bad, and vice versa. right now, though, she was in the presence of good. strong good.       do you think?      she backtracked again, returning around the tree to watch the woman’s work.       that the good will WIN?

The woman sits against a tree. Her hands are busy at working twiddling a twig from the small pile she has gathered beside her. The sound of a rushing river can be heard not far behind her. Her body moves up, signaling her silent laugh. “You’re the first person to say that in a long while.”

image

                                     not many are known to speak the TRUTH.      she turned her head towards the sound of the river, wandering around the tree in a wide arc to see what was on the other side.       it’s better than being the only person to say it. places like these always sow the best people.

@motherliberty liked this post for a short starter.

                                       though the peace of traveling EASED her mind, she knew she shouldn’t allow her guard to fall. there was no reason, however, to have it held so high when only this woman was here by her. there had to be something she could say; the hushed silence was doing nothing for her mind, and so she drew a breath, allowed a curl to her lip.       you’re very lucky to be living here.
