Eyebrow twitched upwards at her expression as Jaime assisted Brienne towards the couch, thankful when she finally took his arm - albeit not without difficulty. He wasn’t sure what to do exactly, nor what to say. At least she wasn’t in her right mind currently, not as observant nor witty as normal. There would be less questions, less noticing any odd behavior her catching him unaware might have caused.
“Not hungry?” he asked finally, chuckling as she dragged him towards his couch. Taking another grip on her arm to help stabilize her, Jaime helped her ease down onto the couch, nearly falling beside her as she dragged him. Sitting down beside her - favorable to falling, surely - Jaime shook his head at her words. “No, Brienne, I want you to keep the key,” he said finally, clearing his throat as her question came. “I told you it was for emergencies, and it is. I’m glad you used it tonight…” He smiled at this, before releasing her grip from his arm and pushing his way up from the couch beside her. “Now wait here, I’ll be back. I’m getting you a glass of water.”
He made his way quickly to the kitchen, filling a glass of water and returning to her side only a moment later. Jaime returned to his seat beside her, and green eyes focused on the expression that he was never quite able to figure out or to quite understand. She was a mystery, to be sure. “Here, you should drink some water,” he added, extending the glass to her. “You’ll thank me tomorrow.”
she couldn’t stop thinking on that key: almost GRINNED at the very thought of it, she was thinking on it so hard. surely he wanted the key back. but surely he wouldn’t lie to her when he said he didn’t want the key back, either. she would keep it for now, TRAPPED ( ingeniously! ) in her pack… somewhere. WHEREVER it was, she knew it would be safe until tomorrow morning, or whenever he decided to bring her back to her own flat. the day was nigh, the sun down, the EVENING upon them; how could she not think about sleep at a time like this?
when jaime left to fetch the water, she stayed on the couch, her gaze tracking him until he moved out of SIGHT. stayed there until he came back into view, and then she followed him until he sat back down beside her. a swallow; she reached for the GLASS, coordination so clumsy that a bit of the water SPILLED off the top.
❛ water can be so DULL to drink sometimes, ❜ she slurred, scooting nearer, legs crossed and folded beneath her haunches, so that she could sip a bit of it. the water was half gone when she leaned back again, looking back up. her free hand came up to WIPE at her lips. ❛ but whatever you say. i’ll listen t'you. not anyone else, though. ❜
